Chris Miller

Christopher Matthew Miller (born January 20, 1968) is a storyboard artist, voice actor and director who voiced Mister Geppetto and the Magic Mirror in the Shrek franchise. He also voiced the Shrek mascot and the Puppet Master.

Shrek[]

Having completed work on Antz, Chris Miller joined as a story artist for Shrek. He had pitched the Magic Mirror scene to the directors and producers, leaving a good impression. Despite the efforts of the directors to imitate Miller's inflex with other actors, they decided he was the only one who could portray the character. Due to overwhelming positivity for his story pitches, he was promoted as the head of story for Shrek 2. Once more, his work was highly praised and earned him the role as director and co-writer of Shrek the Third. He would also contribute many voices to other DreamWorks productions around this time, most notably Kowalski in the Madagascar franchise. After the release of Shrek the Third, Miller earned another directing job for the prequel film, Puss in Boots.

After Shrek[]

With the success of Puss in Boots, he immediately went to work on developing a potential sequel. Initially titled Puss in Boots: Nine Lives & 40 Thieves, it would pick up years after the events of the Shrek films where Puss would find himself on his last life. He was also slated to co-direct the Australian musical Larrikins with Tim Minchin around the same time. However, due to management shifts at DreamWorks Animation, both projects were shelved and Miller would leave the studio to pursue an animated project at Reel FX Animation Studios. As of 2023, no updates were made regarding the project, and Miller has since moved on to directing a yet to be titled animated Smurfs film for Nickelodeon.
