—Magic Mirror introducing Lord Farquaad to Cinderella

Cinderella is one of Princess Fiona's friends. She is obsessed with cleanliness and tidiness after doing a great deal of housework for her stepmother and stepsisters (revealed to be Doris and Mabel).

History[]

Shrek[]

When Lord Farquaad is deciding which princess to marry so that he can become king, Cinderella is one of his choices. At Shrek and Fiona's wedding, Cinderella, fights with Snow White, over Fiona's thrown bouquet, though Dragon ends up catching it. During Donkey's "I'm a Believer," she is seen dancing with one of The Seven Dwarfs as well as with Monsieur Hood and the Merrymen.

Shrek 2[]

Cinderella's Castle is seen in the upper district of Far Far Away. In the lobby of Fairy Godmother's Cottage, an image of Cinderella before and after her magical transformation hangs on the wall, suggesting that this was the work of Fairy Godmother. She herself mentions Cinderella as an example of a character who lived happily ever after.

Shrek The Third[]

Cinderella appears more prominently, now a friend of Fiona, Lillian, Doris, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. She first appears at Fiona's baby shower, where she gifts Fiona a dog pooper-scooper. When Prince Charming attacks Far Far Away, she escapes with Fiona, Queen Lillian, Doris, and the other princesses. She is later betrayed by Rapunzel and imprisoned with others in a dungeon.

They escape and head towards the castle. After Snow White tricks the guards, they enter the castle's grounds and avoid the knights on guard. While trying to get into the castle, Cinderella hurls her glass slipper like a boomerang at a knight, knocking him out. Cinderella, with the other princesses, Doris and Queen Lillian, arrives just in time to stop Prince Charming from killing Shrek. After Charming is defeated, she’s seen talking to the other princesses, Doris and Queen Lillian in the background.

Swamp Talk[]

Cinderella was mentioned in a couple of episodes in the series. Her first was in "Celebrity Fairytale couples", being paired with the Pied Piper. Their couple name was "Cinder Pied Piper Ella". Later she would be a major subject in "Team Cinderella or Team Snow White?', after Prince Charming had split with her in order to date Snow. Her team (#teamcinder4ever) was started by Donkey in order to have her get back with Charming.

Physical Appearance[]

Cinderella's first appearance, she has dirty blonde hair, with green eyes and fair skin. Her hair is straight and tied bun. In Shrek the Third, she has curly strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skin with rosy cheeks. Again, her hair is in a bun but this time with a braid going around her scalp.

In the first film she wears a yellow ball gown in the Magic Mirror's image and is seen wearing a yellow dress similiar to Fiona's wedding gown at the swamp. In Shrek the Third she wore a long silvery blue dress with a big collar and a silver tiara, several rings and glass slippers, which she later used as weapons.

Personality[]

Cinderella appears to be a kind and caring princess like her traditional counterpart, though she is rather ditzy and somewhat skittish. Due to her troubled youth which included slaving away for her stepfamily, she appears to suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder. Moreover, she appears to be a neat freak, as shown when complaining about the griminess of the sewer even though survival is more important. During her imprisonment in Shrek the Third, the floor she cleans becomes so shiny that her reflection becomes visible and it talks back to her, which indicates that she has mirrored-self misidentification, a delusional disorder. Later on, like the other princesses, she uses her initiative and becomes an independent and active woman.

Magic Mirror describes Cinderella as a mentally abused shut-in. She says that she likes sushi and hot tubbing, and that her hobbies include cooking and cleaning for her two stepsisters.

Trivia[]

  • While she was included as a potential princess to marry Lord Farquaad, Cinderella is actually not born into royalty, thus proving impossible for Farquaad to realize his goal had he picked her.
  • Promotional images of Shrek the Third has Cinderella wearing a pink dress instead of the one seen in the film, most likely to avoid copyright issues with Disney. In merchandising, Cinderella has longer hair to further shy away from the Disney counterpart's likeness.
  • Cinderella's voice actress, Amy Sedaris, later voiced Jill in Puss in Boots.
  • Cinderella's name can be spotted in the Shrek 4-D queue on Shrek and Fiona's scrapbook. She was among the several guests invited to their wedding celebration, and wrote in the kind wishes, "Make sure you split the house work!" Her gift to the newly weds was glassware.
  • Her glass slipper makes an appearance in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish as one of "Big" Jack Horner's magic possessions. It is almost shattered when Puss breaks into the trophy room, but is eventually broken by Jack Horner himself when packing up for the journey to the Wishing Star.
    • She was also used as an insult from Baby Bear to Goldilocks, calling her a "low rent Cinderella."
