Merlin is the main antagonist from the Xbox game Shrek and the GameCube port Shrek Extra Large. He borrows the name from the Arthurian legend, who was later represented in the film Shrek the Third.

Shrek (video game)[]
Merlin is the main antagonist of the game, having reigning terror on Duloc Hills (an expanded version of the area from the first film) and kidnapped Fiona. Only good deeds committed by Shrek could defeat his evil, which cause dark clouds surrounding his fortress to disappear. He later fights Shrek in a duel, and gets defeated.
Shrek Extra Large[]
Merlin's role remained virtually unchanged, except he had a proper reason for his kidnapping of Fiona. He wanted to get Shrek's attention so he could help him get his crystal ball back from the Wicked Ice Queen. At the end of the game, when Shrek returns the crystal ball, Merlin still attempts to kill Shrek, only to get defeated by the ogre.
