Mike Myers (born 25 May 1963) provided the role of Shrek in the Shrek series. He is Canadian, although both of his parents are English.
Career
In 1985 (right after high school) he moved to England and co-founded an improv group called The Comedy Store Players. The next year, he participated in the Wide Awake Club, a children's TV show. He spent a few years playing Wayne Campbell for different networks before working at Saturday Night Liveuntil 1993. By this time, he had made two Wayne's World movies (among other SNL films) and had married his long-time girlfriend Robin Ruzan (who he divorced in late 2005).
From 1997 to 2000 he made 3 Austin Powers movies, playing both the titular role and the antagonist, Dr. Evil. That June, Universal sued him for not playing SNL character Dieter in a feature film. After a countersue, an agreement was made in which Myers would play The Cat In The Hat in a film of the same name.
For the next decade, Myers' most notable role was playing Shrek in Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After (and possibly reprising his role in the upcoming 2011 film Puss in Boots).
