Beg for Mercy

Shrek 2: Beg for Mercy! is a video game released on the Game Boy Advance. It is similar to the Shrek 2 game also on the GBA, but starring Puss in Boots as the main character.

Plot[]

Following the events of the Puss in Boots fairytale, Puss was struggling to make a living after defeating the Ogre, making his master happy and earning his boots. After finding an ad for the Poison Apple, he decides to apply for the job of a bounty hunter while making his way through the creepy forest. He is quickly hired and immediately has a client- King Harold of Far Far Away. The king promised Puss in Boots fame and fortune if he went to slayed an ogre. Having prior experience and wanting to find excitement in his tired life, he jumped at the opportunity.

Before he could proceed however, he had to sort out more details with the guards Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. Meanwhile, King Harold was setting up the ogre, Shrek, to meet him at the Big Oak Tree where Puss would be waiting to kill him. Shrek then makes his way to the forest while Puss sets off to find the "Ogre Sword" to aid him on his quest. However, it was revealed to have been a giant waste of time, which delayed Puss' arrival. Having been gone for a long while, Donkey then tries to track down Shrek to make sure he was okay. After wandering around the castle, he finds Shrek in the forest, waiting for King Harold to show up. The duo reunite and proceed to continue waiting until Puss in Boots arrives to fight the ogre.

After the showdown, Puss tells Shrek that he was set up by King Harold and he himself was set up by the guards with promise of immense wealth. With this, the two reconciled and became allies. Now on Shrek's side, Puss proceeds to aid the ogre in his attempt to fix his relationship with Fiona's family by getting a "happily ever after." Being turned down by the Fairy Godmother, the trio steal a "Happily Ever After" potion from the potion room. However, when the two drink the potion and fall unconscious, the cat presumes his new friends to be dead. Fueled by vengeance, Puss sets off to confront the guards for taking advantage of not just him, but the lives of his pals. He returns to the creepy forest where he last saw them, and finds his way through ruined temples.

With the help of a severed stone head, Puss discovers the hideout of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. He confronts them for tricking him into killing an innocent creature and calling their boss (Fairy Godmother) out for selling Shrek and Donkey a deadly potion. In a fit of rage, Puss proceeds to fight them in a final duel to avenge the lives of his friends. After the cat claimed victorious, he was able to gain further information about Fairy Godmother and the truth of the potion that presumably killed Shrek and Donkey. Much to his delight, Shrek and Donkey were alive and had transformed into a beautiful human and stallion. He soon vowed to help Shrek reunite with his love, Princess Fiona before midnight.
