A mermaid resembling Ariel from the Disney film The Little Mermaid makes a cameo appearance during the "Accidentally in Love" scene in Shrek 2, when Shrek and Fiona are on the beach during their honeymoon.
A wave comes in and then goes back out, leaving her on top of Shrek, kissing him. Fiona throws her back into the sea, where she is eaten by sharks (though it is not certain whether she is eaten by sharks or merely attacked).
She is then briefly mentioned by Fiona's Fairy Godmother, explaining that her story has no ogres in it.
- The appearance of the Little Mermaid in the film is similar to that of the Little Mermaid (also referred to as Ariel) in the Disney film and she is the only princess in the Shrek films that bears a notable amount of resemblance to her Disney counterpart.
- It is not known if she died. Some believe that she was devoured by two white sharks and others say that she could have escape them. She was killed at the end of the original fairytale.
