The Pig Who Cried Werewolf is a Halloween short film directed by Gary Trousdale. It was released on October 4, 2011 (for a limited time) exclusively on the Nintendo Video service on Nintendo 3DS.
The Three Little Pigs find themselves in trouble when they ignore the warning signs of Big Bad Wolf, their new neighbor, moving in next door who takes on a ferocious form of the human during a full moon.
Synopsis[]
The Three Little Pigs, named Heimlich (Sean Bishop), Dieter (Sean Bishop), and Horst (Cody Cameron), are heading home from the hospital where Heimlich got his leg hurt from spying on neighbors, like the Poor Lady and the Shoe and Jack and Jill (not to be confused with Puss in Boots' outlaws Jack and Jill). When they arrived at home, Heimlich saw that there's a new neighbor: The Big Bad Wolf (Aron Warner). When the bag falls down, Heimlich, spying on Big Bad Wolf, saw that Big Bad Wolf has a box of knives, but Dieter and Horst didn't see it. Big Bad Wolf then buries the knives in the ground and goes into his house.
At night, the moon is full and Big Bad Wolf is turned into a lady named Chef (Sean Bishop). She is getting the knives, but when Heimlich almost drops the telescope, she can hear the noise. Heimlich was about to show Dieter and Horst that there's something going on the house. When Dieter looks at the house, he sees Big Bad Wolf saying hi to them, but Heimlich doesn't know that because when he looks, Chef played the knives and said, "Get the maniac." Dieter and Horst are going in that house and they get captured by Chef. When Chef gets in the house, a scared Heimlich is captured to her / Wolf's house. After he screams in terror, he sees Dieter and Horst having dinner. When Chef arrives in the room, she turns back into the Wolf and the Three Little Pigs don't know. He tells them to get out, but when he turns back into Chef, he gives chase and keeps changing back to Wolf and Chef as he/she chases the Three Little Pigs.
Voice cast[]
- Sean Bishop as Heimlich, the third pig (bricks). / Dieter, the second pig (sticks). / Chef, who is really Big Bad Wolf transformed
- Cody Cameron as Horst, the first pig (straws/hays)
- Aron Warner as the Big Bad Wolf
Production[]
The short film was created as another Shrek-themed Halloween short film in 2011, also directed by Gary Trousdale. It was released on the short-lived Nintendo 3DS Video Service for a full year before finding a proper home video release in 2012.
Trivia[]
- This short film is a giant parody of the Alfred Hitchcock classic, Rear Window.
- Characters from the nursery rhyme "Hey Diddle Diddle" are mentioned by the pigs.
- "It was only the cow jumping over the moon"
- "Ja, so why is the dish running away with the spoon?"
- Chef's appearance and voice are based on the real-life legendary chef, Julia Child.
- It is possible that this story would've been a part of Scared Shrekless, as seen in some concept art. However, this was released separately and not scrapped likely due to it already being nearly complete by 2011.
- This was the last mainline Shrek production (not counting the Puss in Boots spin-off franchise).
